The HIT Job on Cockroaches: How Old Videos Were Used to Discredit CJP

As the Cockroach Janata Party gained traction online, several social media accounts began circulating old protest videos and falsely linking them to a supposed Gen-Z uprising against the Central Government. An OSINT investigation by Offbeat Concerns found that the visuals were unrelated and actually traced back to the Anti-UGC protest in Bihar and the workers’ agitation in Noida.

The ‘Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)’ emerged in India in May 2026 as a satirical response to remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, targeting unemployed youth, which triggered widespread backlash online. Soon enough, the CJP, now dubbed the Gen-Z movement of India, crossed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s follower count and now stands at over twenty-one million followers.

CJP, an online protest movement demanding action against corruption, unemployment, and other social issues, has not yet staged an offline/on-ground protest. Multiple videos are circulating on the internet claiming to show a recent on-ground Gen-Z protest in India. However, we found that the videos were old and linked to the Anti-UGC protest in Bihar and the Workers’ protest in Noida.

What is Cockroach Janta Party?

The ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ (CJP) was launched on May 16, 2026, as a satirical online movement shaped  after remarks by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant comparing unemployed youth to ‘cockroaches’. The movement is largely driven by Gen Z social media users frustrated over unemployment, rising costs, and mainstream political discourse. Social media users embraced the label instead of rejecting it and turned the term into a political meme and a symbol of frustration, survival, and online resistance.

Viral videos show Gen-Z protest in India?

On May 23, a Mexico City-based X account ‘Pamphlets’ (@PamphletsY) shared a video showing a crowd carrying and burning an effigy resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while portraying the incident as part of a growing ‘Gen Z protest’ movement linked to the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ (CJP). The post claimed that Indians were ‘tired’ of living under “BJP corruption”.

As of May 23, the post garnered 5,08,000 views, 14,000 likes, and 3,100 reposts.

We identified that on May 22, Pakistan-based X accounts initially shared the same video, linking it to the alleged Gen-Z protest in India.

On May 22, Pakistan-based X user Uzma Shah (@UzmaShahw1) shared the video with the caption,”Gen Z strikes again‼️Cockroach Janta Party’s viral uprising exposes Modi’s failures. 🇮🇳 India collapsing just like Nepal as millions join the cockroach army! 😱.”

We performed a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral video, which led us to a Facebook post dated January 28.

The post’s Hindi caption indicates that the video shows a mob of upper-caste individuals protesting, as part of the anti UGC bill protest, thrashing and burning an effigy of PM Narendra Modi in Arrah, Bihar.

As of 29 January 2026, the Supreme Court of India has stayed the proposed UGC regulations.

Additionally, we geolocated the video to Ambey Nagar, Chandawa, Arrah, Bihar.

On May 23, the Mexico City-based X account ‘Pamphlets’ (@PamphletsY) also shared another video claiming that ‘Gen Z protesters’ linked to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had clashed near military offices amid growing anger against the Modi government. The video features the logo of CJP and also a text that reads, “Cockroaches have come.”

As of May 23, the post gained significant traction online, recording over 5,90,000 views, 1,700 likes, and nearly 400 reposts.

We identified that the X account, Manipur Post (@ManipurPost5), initially shared the video with a similar caption claiming that Cockroach Janta Party protesters stormed areas near defence establishments in Noida. The account is withheld in India, and according to its bio, it documents the occupation, violence, and humanitarian crisis in Manipur.

A reverse image search of the keyframes of the viral video revealed that it dates back to April 2026 and shows the workers’ agitation that occurred in Noida. We found that several accounts across social media platforms shared the same video on April 12 and 13, linking it to the workers’ protest in Noida.

This clarifies that the video alleging the recent Gen-Z agitation near the defence area in Noida shows old visuals from the workers’ protest that occurred in April.

Therefore, visuals from old protests in India were falsely portrayed online as the Gen-Z protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Furthermore, on May 23, Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of CJP, denied any on-ground protest by CJP and clarified through CJP’s Instagram account that no calls for protest have been made. He also advised followers of CJP to refrain from any kind of violent protests.

Our investigation found no evidence that the Cockroach Janata Party has organised any recent on-ground protest. Instead, unrelated visuals from older agitations were stripped of their original context and pushed online to manufacture a narrative of large-scale unrest in India.
