Did Modi Endorse Christianity? See What AI Does
A viral video allegedly showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising Christianity spread rapidly across social media. This Verified report explains how an AI-generated clip was misrepresented as authentic.
January 2026 remained a troubling month for the religious minorities of India, where several incidents, including mob-lynching, vandalism, and harassment from the right-wing string groups, targeted muslim street vendors, Christian pastors, and dargahs. In the meantime, a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking highly of Jesus Christ and Christianity took center stage in the Indian cyberspace. Many shared the video believing it to be true; however, deeper analysis revealed that the video is AI-generated.
How is social media sharing the video?
On January 28, 2026, the Instagram account bible_prediction shared a video using hashtags #jesus, #believe, #god, #instagram, and #love with a Hindi caption that translates to, “Jesus is Lord.” As of February 5, the post received 71,700 shares, 80,000 likes, and 6,412 reposts.

The video features PM Narendra Modi questions the allegation of conversion against Christianity, conveying the message that Jesus doesn’t convert; rather, he changes life, and his teachings improve the quality of life. Even though several netizens indicated that the video is AI-generated, many believed the video to be true and commented “Amen”. A user remarked, “The blind followers of the PM should watch this video. Another user commented, “I wish our Prime Minister understood the message.”
On January 29, a user shared the same video with a Hindi caption, “India’s PM Narendra Modi propagated Christianity and supported Christians. Watch this video completely and share it with all Christians.”

As of February 5, the post garnered 31,300 likes, 24,800 shares, and 3,173 reposts. A user commented, “The video is made using AI. Kindly don’t believe it. PM would never say such this.”
The same video was shared on Facebook and YouTube. On YouTube, we identified that the video was shared with multiple descriptions, such as “PM Narendra Modi//Preaching the Word of God// Status for the World People//,” “What wonderful things our Prime Minister said about Jesus Christ,” प्रधानमंत्री मोदी जी भी प्रभु यीशु मसीह का प्रचार करते हुए (translation: Prime Minister Modi ji also preaching Lord Jesus Christ),” “धर्मपरिवर्तन का सच्च (translation: The truth about religious conversion)”.
How did we verify it?
We checked the viral claim and found no media or official reports suggesting that the PM recently made such statements about Christianity. We also performed AI detection of video using DeepFake-O-Meter, a Deepfake and an AI detection platform.

The result revealed that the likelihood that the viral visual is AI-generated is 100%.
Analysis revealed that netizens widely shared an AI-generated video of PM Narendra Modi endorsing Christianity on social media platforms.
