The Nida Khan Who Isn’t

The Nida Khan Who Isn’t

TCS at Nashik in Maharashtra continues  to hit headlines  after allegations of sexual assault and forced conversion surfaced.  So far nine FIRs have been filed in connection with a series of  alleged incidents dating back to  2022.

As the issue gained traction, social media was flooded with claims suggesting an organised conspiracy of religious conversion. However, the documents submitted in the court so far do not substantiate allegations  of forced conversion.

Amidst the uproar, one name drew everyone’s attention- Nida Khan. She was initially misidentified as the  ‘Head of Human Resources’ at TCS , a claim that was later proven  false. A photograph of a hijab-wearing woman began circulating widely online  claiming to show the same  Nida Khan linked to the case.Who is the woman in the photo? Is she the same Nida Khan who is one of the nine accused in the Nashik TCS case? We investigated this claim.

Same Name, Different Person: The Viral Photo Explained

As the controversy  spread further, misleading posts started  circulating on Facebook claiming the ‘Nida Khan’- connected to the TCS case was the same person featured in the photo. These posts featured a woman’s  photo and presented her as the  “Nida Khan” involved in the Nashik allegations.

Later, several other accounts also shared the same image, amplifying its reach. The comment box reflected divided  opinions. One user commented, ”By 2047 the country could turn into a Muslim-majority state, and Kerala might come under their rule as early as 2031.” Another user said “How can someone change their religion without thinking for themselves? Can you clear up this confusion?”

On April 17,2026, the Facebook account “Sarvan Mekkat” with over 19,000 followers shared the post.

Some comments contained offensive and religiously charged language, such as: “It’s not because there are extremist Islamists in the media; it’s because Hindus in Kerala have become very weak.” Overall, users moved away from the central issue and began reacting on a religious and emotional basis.

However, OBC found that the person in the image has no connection with  the ‘Nida Khan’-alleged to be involved in the TCS case. She is a social activist who shares the  same name, but has no connection  to the BPO issue whatsoever. There is no evidence linking her to the case.

Who Is Nida Khan? The Activist Behind the Misused Image

Nida Khan is a women’s rights activist from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, known for her work on issues such as triple talaq, nikah halala, and domestic violence. According to India Today, she gained national attention after speaking out against  certain religious practices affecting muslim women. She subsequently faced strong  criticism including a fatwa issued against her in 2018 and a cash reward  announced for harming her.

She is the founder of the organization “Ala Azratheadquartered in Uttar Pradesh, where she has worked to support women dealing with marital problems and social pressure. Her activism has often been a part of public debates around personal law and women’s rights.

As reported by The Times of India, Nida Khan has also been active in politics and worked with the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. Her involvement in BJP later  caused problems in her family and social life according to the report carried by India Today. She said she was threatened into leaving the party. Following which she filed a police complaint. A case was registered and action was taken against the accused.

Multiple sources verify this information about Nidakhan whose photo had been misused. According to  Wikipedia  she is a social activist who speaks out against instant triple talaq and provides legal support and protection for women affected by it.

Despite this, her photograph was wrongly circulated  and connected with the TCS Nashik controversy- a clear case of misinformation.
