Bajrang Dal to Target Protesters? Claim Debunked

Are Hindutwa groups mobilising their people for a counter protest in Delhi? Many of such claims in social media are misleading. We debunked.

As Delhi prepares for the upcoming ‘Dilli Chalo 2.0’ march and CJP protests at Jantar Mantar on October 10, 2026, numerous social media claims have emerged alleging that the Hindutwa outfits are preparing to handle the protesters, specifically the Bajrang Dal. Many right-wing social media handles ‘ posts have suggested that the group might infiltrate or disrupt the student-led demonstrations. OBC identified that these viral posts are misleading.

What are the viral claims?

On October 8, the X (formerly Twitter) account @HindustanKiArmy shared a video showing a crowd gathered on a busy city street. The video is captioned, ‘ BIG BREAKING NEWS Hindu organizations have launched Operation “Catch the Cockroaches.” A large number of people from Hindu organizations have left for Jantar Mantar. Bhaag Abhijeet Dipke Bhaaag! @abhijeet_dipke @SauravDassss @AshutoshRanka

As of 8 October, the video has amassed 77.5k views, 2.5k likes and 670 reshares.

The comment section reflected intense anger towards the protesters demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, with many users urging citizens to unite and socially boycott the protest. One user wrote, ‘Good…even ordinary citizens should be out to counter..social boycott is the way forward against these anarchists.’ Another user commented, ‘Well done Need atleast 10 lacs of sanatanis to blow these bustards along with there Aka s Catch hold of Druv bustard..& kick him to Germany.. & need 500 Naturam also for India being in peace… Dint play with janata …there is a limit of all such things ..’

While several comments pointed out that the video was fake, many others resorted to personal insults, derogatory language, and calls to violence.

OBC analysed the viral post and conducted a detailed search of official records or credible news reports to verify the existence of such an event.

We also analysed keyframes from the viral video and confirmed that the same video was shared on 14 November 2022 by an account named royal_rajputana_.

The Instagram post was originally captioned with regional hashtags such as #singrauli, #mp, and #jeevansinghsherpur.

Since the post predates the protests demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, the video is unrelated to the recent demonstrations or any mobilisation by the Bajrang Dal.

Another viral video showing a crowd carrying saffron flags was falsely circulated with claims that 1 lakh Bajrang Dal members were marching towards Jantar Mantar to counter the student-led CJP protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

On 8 October, an X user, Hindutva Don (@HindutvaDon_), shared the video with the caption, ‘BREAKING: 1 lakh Bajrang Dal memebers are coming to Jantar Mantar on Oct 10 Hackers have entered the lobby .’

As of 8 October, the post had garnered more than 287k views, 3.6k reshares, and 22k likes.

We analysed keyframes from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search, which led us to the original post by the account Viक़as (@VlKAS_PR0NAM0).

The video was originally shared with the caption: ‘Just imagine nationalists reaching Jantar Mantar on October 10th 🔥’. As of 9 October, the video has gained 610.5k views, 1.6k reshares and 9.3k likes.

However, we also noted that the same account had previously posted the exact same video on Jul 22, 2026.

This post coincided with the CJP protests in Jantar Mantar in July 2026 demanding the resignation of then-Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.  It was captioned,  ‘Imagine Bajrang Dal & RSS hitting the streets now’.  The video has amassed 420.6K views.

This demonstrates that the viral video, which claims to depict the current Delhi protests at Jantar Mantar, is false and not connected to any recent CJP protests in Delhi. However, we could not independently verify the video’s original context.

The official statement

Bajrang Dal denies any plan to mobilise people on 10th October

In an official statement posted on its social media handles, the Bajrang Dal clarified its stance on the upcoming protests in Delhi, saying the organisation ‘has always opposed any kind of anarchic demonstrations in the country.’ The post specifically opposed demonstrations ‘being held under the guise of Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar.’

Addressing the viral rumours, Bajrang Dal dismissed claims regarding their involvement at the demonstration venue as ‘misleading malicious propaganda about the arrival of Bajrang Dal workers at Jantar Mantar,’ confirming that ‘there is no such plan from the side of Bajrang Dal.’ They also expressed scepticism about the impact of the upcoming CJP protest, stating that ‘lacking public support, the movement (demanding CEC’s resignation) is destined to die its natural death, just like the previous ones.’

Our analysis found that the posts claiming to show Bajrang Dal members mobilising for counter protests against the upcoming Jantar Mantar protests by CJP and other organisations are misleading.

The viral posts show misleading content, including an unrelated video and repurposed footage, and misrepresent it as ongoing protests. Several social media accounts are attempting to distort both the timeline and context to spread misinformation, while the Bajrang Dal itself has officially dismissed any plans to organise any counter-protest in Delhi.

Thus, our analysis indicates that many social media accounts are misleadingly sharing a recycled video from 2022 across social media platforms.
